Nikolaos Tripodis

Nikos is Head Strategic Projects at Novartis and oversees key global strategic projects. He is a people and business leader with extensive experience in pharma, management consulting and biomedical research, with a strong record of accomplishments across diverse business areas, and cultures. He led teams at country, global and corporate level. He is motivated to generate positive impact to society through innovation, by helping and empowering individuals and teams to reach their potential. He is passionate about sustainable access to innovation, leveraging digital platforms and policy shaping.
Previously, he was the Global Business Franchise Head, Ophthalmology and before he was the General Manager for Novartis in the Philippines and then in Russia. He worked for AstraZeneca and for BCG, in Europe, ME and Japan. He has a degree in Biology, a PhD in Medical and Molecular Genetics, and post-graduate trainings at HBS, MIT and Singularity University. He was an EU fellow at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and a Lecturer at King’s College, London. His scientific work contributed to the Human Genome Project and his research on lung cancer was acknowledged at the 2001 Nobel Prize acceptance speech by Nobel Laureate L. H. Hartwell.
Dr. Tripodis is married with two children. He enjoys travelling, arts, reading, tennis, football, basketball, and under-water photography.
