Partner - Head of EU-Greek Practice @ DLA Piper
Orestis Omran is a Partner at the Brussels office of DLA Piper and the Head of the firm’s EU-Greek practice focusing on EU regulatory matters in the energy, infrastructure and banking sectors. Qualified in Greece, New York, and Brussels (E-list), Orestis has experience ranging from EU Public Private Partnerships and Procurement to designing compliance programs and representing clients in state aid and other investigations before the European Commission, national authorities and subsequent proceedings before the EU Courts.
Orestis advises energy companies on contentious and non-contentious matters, including on transnational litigation and international commercial and investment arbitrations, and a wide range of regulatory matters involving the upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas industry. He also has experience in drafting and negotiating oil exploration and development proposals with governments.
In Greece, Orestis benefits from a strong network of contacts in the Greek government and industry and advises clients on regulatory, institutional and compliance matters under EU and on Greek law. He has also been advising the IMF and the European Institutions on the implementation of the Greek Program and has led some of the most significant transactions in Greece acting for either the Government and state companies or private investors.
