Prodromos Anthopoulos
Vice President, Head of Medical Affairs Europe and the Company @ Cytokinetics
Born and raised in Athens, received my Medical Degree from the University of Athens and completed my Cardiology training at Evagelismos general hospital. Subspecialized for a bit longer than two years in Interventional Cardiology at St Thomas’ hospital (NHS) in London UK. Returned to Evagelismos hospital as Consultant Cardiologist (Epimelitis), where beyond my clinical duties, have been most productive with research internationally, introduced innovations such as the treatment of Acute Coronary Syndromes in the Cath Lab 24/7 and was actively involved with the Hellenic Society of Cardiology.
In 2012 despite an internationally recognized successful course in Interventional Cardiology, I attempted a career change and joined the pharmaceutical industry moving out of clinical medicine and from Athens to Zurich. Continued focusing on Cardiovascular research utilizing my broad and deep clinical experience. Furthermore, in 2015 I completed a two-years post graduate program in Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of Basel.
I have served in global leadership roles in Clinical Development and Medical Affairs in two different NASDAQ listed companies, latest being the Vice President, Therapeutic Area Head – Cardiovascular for Arena Pharmaceuticals which got acquired by Pfizer in March 2022. In March 2023 I exited Pfizer and since August 2023 I am serving as Vice President, Head of Medical Affairs Europe for Cytokinetics, a NASDAQ listed biotech focusing on innovative Cardiovascular medications.
Married with three children and living in the greater Zurich area since 2012.
